A new international distinction was won by Greece and Naxos during the summer. According to the popular German media Reisenexclusiv.com, Naxos ranks third among the most sought-after destinations in the world for their dream beaches.
The list was created after a journalist survey of German travelers looking for authentic travel experiences and destinations without mass tourism. In particular, the magazine focuses on the Plaka beach of Naxos with its glittering golden sand and seductive turquoise waters that are ideal for both sunbathing and water sports.
Additionally the list includes Kerala in India, Namibia, Scotland, Cambodia, Oregon, the Cayman Islands, Grenada in the Caribbean, the German island of Sylt, Hawaii, Rio de Janeiro and Whitsunday Island in Australia.
At the same time, Naxos has recently been promoted in France as the Greek island that has everything. Quentin Lafon, a popular French travel blogger and photographer, traveled to the largest island of the Cyclades under the care of the French EOT Office in collaboration with the Municipality of Naxos and the Small Cyclades, in order to capture Naxos photographically and create the “pentalogue” of the ideal destination. According to the French blogger, sunny Naxos offers unique explorations through white villages, olive trees, dreamy beaches and impressive archaeological monuments that inspire awe.
As stated by the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of the municipality of Naxos & Small Cyclades, Vangelis Katsaras, “the current tourist year started very dynamically with a 200% increase in boat arrivals compared to 2019 for May and is expected to continue with satisfactory performance after August”.
