ZANTE.

It is the southernmost island of the complex and the third largest and most populous in the Ionian Islands. It is located south of Kefalonia and west of the Peloponnese. Η πόλη της Ζακύνθου.

It is a mountainous island characterized by pine-covered mountains and fertile plains, which give Zakynthos endless green landscapes. While the idyllic beaches of the island, the rocky shores, the impressive sea caves leave the visitors breathless.

Here, you will meet some of the most famous beaches of island Greece, such as Shipwreck, Laganas, Volimes with the Blue Caves etc. During the tour of the island you will be impressed by the unique natural beauties of the island, the historical monuments and the hospitable inhabitants.

The island is one of the last refuges of the sea turtles caretta-caretta
and the Mediterranean seal Monks – Monks. That’s why the National Marine Park was created on the island for their protection, in the bay of Laganas.

Zakynthos Beaches.

Shipwreck

Η παραλία Ναυάγιο.
Η παραλία Ναυάγιο.

The picturesque bay with a rusty ship on its shore has long been the main image of guides on this paradise Greek island. It is this attraction that owes its name to the beach. Initially, it was named after Saint George, and later renamed “Shipwreck”.

Laganas.

Laganas beach is located in the southern part of the island, 9 km from the capital. The beach is 9 km long. It is one of the largest in the Mediterranean.

The coast is covered with granular soft sand. The central part of the beach has a smooth descent, clean sand and warm waters that make it ideal for family vacations.
As you start outside the center, the shoreline becomes stony rather than sandy and sea urchins can be seen much more often. You can find a secluded spot away from the noisy crowds at the farthest reaches of the beach. The beach is closed at night because the turtles are waking up at that moment.

Tsilivi

Tsilivi beach is located in the homonymous resort village, just 7 km from Zakynthos and 1 km from the large resort Planos, in a picturesque area surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. These beautiful landscapes and convenient location make it particularly attractive to tourists. Families with children flock to this place in huge quantities due to the ideal conditions.

Kalamaki.

Kalamaki beach is not as popular as other beaches of Zakynthos, but for many tourists it is one of the most comfortable and well equipped. It is a large beach with sand and pebbles that borders the calm blue and crystal clear sea. Kalamaki is surrounded by mountains covered with grass and various plants. The descent is smooth, shallow waters are both on the shore and further away. Its main feature is the sea turtles. Kalamaki is part of the National Marine Park, which is why there are nesting places for turtles.

How will you get to Zakynthos?

You can come to Zakynthos either by boat or by plane. Especially during the tourist season, April to October, the options are endless.

With airplane.

Zakynthos, like almost all the islands of Greece that have an airport, during the tourist season have “infinite” connections with European cities. Direct charter flights are available from the UK, Netherlands, France, Spain and Italy.

The flight from Athens lasts 45 minutes while there are usually flights available from Kefalonia, Corfu and Thessaloniki three times a week throughout the year. Arriving at Zakynthos airport it would be good to have booked your transfer from here to the hotel.

By Ferry Boat.

Zakynthos has daily itineraries during the summer season with Kyllini and Peloponnese. The port is located in the city of Zakynthos and the ticket costs about 9 € for adults and 5.5 € for children (5 to 10 years old). Most companies do not charge for under 5 years.

The transfer of the car will cost you approximately 30 € while you will receive a discount if you book the return. We recommend that you be at least 5-6 hours before the estimated time of departure at the port especially if you have not purchased tickets.
